Recently a South Carolina man was killed on I-85 in Greenville County. The victim was struck and killed by the driver of a Toyota SUV when the victim was walking with his back to traffic in the southbound lane of the interstate. The victim's vehicle was found in the center lane of traffic of I-385 near Roper Mountain Road, though it is unclear to authorities whether or not his car had broken down or why he was not with his vehicle at the time of the accident. The pedestrian accident and resulting cleanup slowed morning traffic significantly. The driver of the SUV was wearing a seat belt and was not significantly injured.
Car accidents do not always involve other vehicles. Many times auto crashes include pedestrians who are hit by a car. Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to severe injuries when involved in an accident. If a vehicle strikes a person, the size and weight of a car can have a tremendous impact because a person is merely a fraction of the size of the car. Unfortunately, pedestrians do not come equipped with seat belts or airbags to protect them from injury like the passengers of a car.

A man who was found dead in the wreckage of a tractor-trailer accident earlier this month near Blacksburg, South Carolina, actually died of a heart attack, not from the impact of the crash. After an autopsy was conducted by the Cherokee County coroner, it was determined that the man's death was the cause of the accident, rather than the result.
The 62-year-old driver was alone in his truck, heading north on Interstate 85, when the semi drove over the median, crossed over the southbound lanes and went through a guard rail. The cab of the vehicle was separated from the trailer it was pulling; the driver was wearing his seat belt and was found inside the truck at the bottom of a 40-foot embankment.

A Fountain Inn, South Carolina, man was killed this week when his pickup truck hit the back of a methanol tanker truck that had stopped for traffic in front of it on Interstate 385. The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seat belt. The impact from the truck accident caused fatal multiple blunt force trauma to his neck and head.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the victim was driving north on I-385 near Simpsonville. A large tanker truck in front of him had reportedly stopped in his lane to let traffic move in front of him. For some reason, the driver of the pickup truck didn't apply his brakes and slammed into the rear of the tanker truck.

For every seven errors that occur in hospitals affecting Medicare patients, employees recognize and report only one, according to federal investigators in a new study. And, the report says, even when preventable events such as infections and injuries are investigated, steps are not taken that would prevent them from recurring in the future.
In order to be paid by Medicare, hospitals are obligated to track mistakes, analyze them and ensure that they won't happen again. But the federal investigators who conducted the study say that isn't necessarily being done. This leaves the door open for potential medical malpractice lawsuits.

Many factors can contribute to car accidents in South Carolina, such as speeding, driver negligence and being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Earlier this year, speeding seems to have played a part in a car crash that took the life of a 91-year-old Greenville man.

When an employee is injured on the job, they may be entitled to receive workers' compensation benefits. If negligence is found at the hands of another party, the victim may choose to seek compensation in civil court against the negligent party in order to cover expenses that stem from the accident. A recent car accident between a South Carolina state trooper and a pickup truck driver left both parties injured.
The accident reportedly happened on Nov. 29, just after 1 a.m. According to authorities, the officer was driving down a street in the city of Anderson when the 29-year-old driver of a pickup truck turned into the path of the officer's vehicle. The collision totaled the trooper's vehicle, according to news reports. The pickup truck driver was sent to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, although he was released shortly after and taken to the Anderson County Detention Center. According to a news report, the man faces DUI charges.
